The Platform is the 2019 Spanish social sci-fi-horror movie directed by Galder Gaztelu-Urrutia. The film is set in a large, tower-style "Center for vertical self-Management". Its residents, who switch between its many floors every 30 days, are initially fed by a platform full of food on the top floor, gradually descend from the levels of the tower, and stop at each of them for a fixed time. The system inevitably leads to conflict, because the top-tier residents can eat as much food as possible, and each level only takes what's left of the previous ones.
The film stars Iván Massagué, Antonia San Juan, Zorion Eguileor, Emilio Buale Coka and Alexandra Masangkay.
The film's premiere was held at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, where it won the People's Choice Award for Midnight Madness. At TIFF, the film also secured a worldwide streaming deal with Netflix. It was released on the streaming service on March 20, 2020.
